Christmas Lights Competition

We are pleased to announce the winners of our Christmas Lights Competition (they could only get a small shot of the display, more pictures to follow)! We have chosen Mr & Mrs Day and his brother Geoffrey from Cradle End, Little Hadham as our deserved winners.

It is truly a family event putting up their lights with Margaret decorating the inside of the house while Roger and Geoffrey set about putting up the 75 sets of lights that brighten our journey between Bishop’s Stortford and the Little Hadham traffic Lights.

Roger tells me he has lived at his property in Cradle End for over forty years and they started decorating the outside of the house over the last fourteen. As with most of these stories, it started with just a few lights and has grown over the years and spread across his land to the side of the property. They have been very touched by the compliments received from passers by, even being given Christmas Cards and children’s pictures from well wishers. It takes them about four to five days to complete the display and I am sure if you have driven by you will appreciate all their hard work.

Roger was really pleased that we chose them as our winners and he said “whilst he likes his prize it means more to him that people really appreciate the display”. Roger unfortunately suffers with Parkinson’s disease and often thought of making it a charity event with proceeds going to research into the disease. We would like to wish him well with that and look forward to many more great Christmas displays.
